Notes: VW was so sexy in his second scene in Bringin' Down the House, my suspension of disbelief in the woman trying to get away from him was just not possible. Next thing you know, I was writing. *g*

Spoilers: None that I can think of.

Brennan walked down the long hallway that led from Sanctuary's entrance to the main living area. He checked the computers first, but there was no sign of Jesse, so he moved on to the workout area.

He watched from below as Jesse went through a form, his movements smooth and fluid, displaying an instinctive grace that Brennan had noticed early on, and with much the same reaction he was having now.

As he stepped toward the stairs, Brennan tugged at his jeans, attempting to rid himself of the sudden tightness there. He dropped his jacket at the corner of the practice mat. Jesse's eyes were closed, had been closed the entire time. Brennan made a move that would be easily blocked if the opponent were looking, fully expecting it to connect, though not hurt. To his surprise, the chopping move was soundly blocked. Jesse's eyes opened, and he turned his head to greet Brennan with a smile. "Nice try."

"Nice move," Brennan said, stepping back and circling, falling easily into their normal sparring routine.

Jesse's smile grew as he matched Brennan's steps. "You wouldn't believe the things you can hear when you focus."

"Try me," Brennan responded. The sudden flair in Jesse's eyes did nothing to help the growing discomfort of Brennan's jeans.

Jesse kicked out to pull Brennan's legs out from under him, but Brennan was ready, forcing Jesse to the ground first and landing on top of the smaller man. Brennan nearly groaned as he felt Jesse's erection through the layers of his jeans and Jesse's sweats. So he wasn't the only one affected, then. He'd wondered about that.

"Looks like that move needs some work," Brennan commented easily.

His mock composure cracked a bit as Jesse wriggled a little. "That all depends on what I was aiming for when I made it."

There was no mistaking the huskiness in Jesse's voice, or the desire in his eyes--not to mention certain other physical evidence. "So you planned all along to end up on the floor, under me?"

"Floor, table, bed...any flat surface would do."

Public place, Brennan. Very public--open, cameras, people could walk by at any moment....

Jesse wriggled again.

To hell with public. Brennan didn't so much lean as dive down, fusing his lips with Jesse's. The kiss was hotter than he'd dreamed--and he had dreamed, imagined, and fantasized about it. At the first slip of Jesse's tongue into his mouth, Brennan reached for his belt buckle. To hell with public indeed.

"Jesse!"

Brennan found himself on his back, alone, hand still on his belt. Jesse was leaning over the railing. "What's up, Emma?"

At least the bastard had the good grace to sound winded. Brennan rolled to his knees and stood, joining Jesse at the railing.

"Adam's picked up a signal he thinks is from Neon's HQ, but it's too faint. Can you come have a look?"

"Sure." Jesse nearly jumped over the railing as Brennan ran his hand over the curve of Jesse's ass. "Be right there," Jesse said in a rush, slapping Brennan's hand away and heading for the stairs. "Why didn't you just use the com?" he heard Jesse ask as he reached the bottom step.

"We did. You were apparently very focused--you weren't answering."

Brennan smiled to himself as their voices faded down the hall. He knew the answer now--Jesse wanted him. The rest would fall into place.

***

Okay, so he'd assumed things would fall into place. Instead, Jesse had avoided any kind of physical contact since that morning. All day he'd hidden behind the company of others. Brennan pounded a fist against the wall. He hadn't been able to find Jesse since dinner. He was just about ready to go find Emma and ask her to find Jesse for him, but he decided to try Jesse's room one more time.

There was a pause after Brennan knocked before Jesse called out, "Who is it?"

"Brennan."

A longer pause, and then the door opened. Jesse stood in the doorway, a smile pasted on his face. "What's up?"

"Can I come in?"

The smile flickered, then popped back into place, more forced than before. "Sure." He stood back so Brennan could step inside. Before Jesse could stop him, Brennan shut the door. He was determined to avoid interruption if he could.

"So," Jesse said, rubbing his palms on his jeans, "what did you need?"

You? Somehow Brennan thought that might not be the best way to do this. "Look...about earlier...."

Jesse stared at a spot in the far corner. "Yeah, that was kind of weird, wasn't it? Don't worry, we can forget about it."

"Are you sure that's what you want?" No answer. Brennan moved into Jesse's line of sight. "Jess?"

Blue eyes met his. "It's what we should do."

"But?"

"The team...dynamics and all that."

"But?"

Jesse ran a hand through his hair. "Look, Bren...no, okay?"

"No, what?"

"No, I don't want to forget it."

"But?"

He growled, opened his mouth, shut it, opened it again. "It's a bad idea. It gets in the way out there."

"Do you see Emma and Shal having any problems?"

Jesse blinked. "Jesus, how did I miss that one?"

"You tend to see what you want, buddy."

The blue eyes darkened. "Maybe--but the question is can I go after it when I see it?"

It was all the motivation Brennan needed. He closed the small distance between them and leaned in for a kiss, but Jesse pulled back at the last second. Only Brennan's hand on his shoulder prevented Jesse from moving. "Is that your way of answering your own question?"

"No. Yes. I don't know." He pulled away gently, moving across the room to sit on the bed. "I don't know the answer," he said, putting his head in his hands.

Brennan moved carefully to the bed and sat down close to Jesse, their legs touching. "Jess...are you a virgin?"

His head shot up. "Of course not!"

"No, I mean...y'know...other guys?"

"Oh." He nodded as he looked back down at his hands on his lap.

Brennan took a deep breath. "I just assumed...."

"It's not common practice among well-bred rich boys."

At that, Brennan laughed. "I'm not so sure about that. I know one or two--never mind." He laid his hand on Jesse's shoulder again. "Look, we don't have to do anything you don't want. Hell, we don't have to do anything."

Jesse looked up again. "I want...I'm not sure what I want," he said finally, "except you," he finished in a near whisper.

Control, Brennan. Control is good. He watched as Jesse's tongue wet his lips and had to remind himself again about control. Kissing was a good place to start.

Several minutes later, lying on the bed, both his arms and one leg wrapped around Jesse, Brennan decided kissing was a very good idea as well. His hands made their way under Jesse's shirt, feeling hot, smooth skin.

Brennan groaned, breaking the kiss to move his lips down to Jesse's neck. He licked at the rapid pulse there, grinning at the gasp that produced. Nibbles further down Jesse's neck caused some interesting squirming, and a light bite to his earlobe had him arching against Brennan so hard he ached.

He wanted more. But how far would Jesse go? Figures--just when it mattered more than ever before, it's a virgin. Definitely unfamiliar territory.

Okay, like a new recruit on a job, then--lead by example. Brennan pulled away, smiling at Jesse's small whimper. As Brennan raised his own shirt over his head, he saw the understanding in Jesse's eyes. By the time Brennan's shirt was on the floor, Jesse's had joined it.

That skin was going to kill him. How something that could go hard as rock, or turn into nothing at all, could be so smooth...so real....

He had to taste it all, the sweet joint between neck and shoulder--which, he discovered, was one of Jesse's weaknesses. Down the breastbone, marvelling at the hard muscle as his lips and tongue wandered over to one taut nipple.

Jesse arched up at the first touch of Brennan's tongue to the sensitive nub. When Brennan tugged on it with his teeth, Jesse's grip tightened painfully in Brennan's hair.

With a wicked grin, Brennan lifted his head to meet Jesse's dazed eyes. Brennan ran his finger around the slick nipple, adding just a little electricity to the touch.

That got the most interesting response yet. Jesse grabbed him by the hair and pulled his head up until their lips were fused together. Brennan reached for his own zipper, managing to shimmy out of his jeans and underwear--at least until he was stopped by his shoes.

He pulled away long enough to throw everything off before he hurried back up the bed to Jesse's warmth. When he would've leaned back in for another kiss, Jesse held up a hand to stop him.

"What's wrong?"

Jesse smiled, and Brennan's heart flip-flopped. Too close, too important, and he was too far gone to stop now. He shoved the worry aside for later, determined to be in the moment.

"Nothing's wrong. I'm just a little overdressed," he said, as he sat up to remove the rest of his clothes. "Besides," he added, grinning over his shoulder, "I like the view."

He lay back down, completely naked, and Brennan stared. "The view from here is pretty damn good too."

His hand wandering across Jesse's chest and stomach, Brennan popped himself up on his elbow and leaned in for a gentle kiss. His hand explored lower, through the patch of wiry curls to find Jesse's stiff cock. As Brennan's palm teased the tip, Jesse groaned, biting Brennan's lip and getting an answering groan.

Brennan broke the kiss, smiling a promise before crawling around on the bed, tasting various parts of Jesse's body as he positioned himself so his head was resting next to Jesse's cock. He pulled on Jesse's hip until his lover--and boy, did that sound strange--turned, getting the idea.

The first lick was almost as sweet as the loud gasp Jesse couldn't hold back. As he slowly traced the ridge around the head, Brennan revelled in the sounds Jesse made as his hips began to thrust a little, as if Jesse didn't even realize what he was doing.

And then they stilled. Brennan paused, worried he'd gone too far, until he felt the first tentative lick down his own cock. "Shit!"

Jesse stopped immediately. "Did I do something wrong?"

"God, no! Trust me, it was very, very right!"

"Oh." Brennan could hear the grin in Jesse's voice. "Well, in that case--"

The feel of Jesse's tongue on him was less of a surprise this time, but just as amazing. Part of his mind tried to warn him about that, but Brennan told it to shut the hell up.

He bent his head back to driving Jesse as crazy as Jesse was driving him, but it was a close race. No sooner had Jesse come than Brennan felt himself following. He tried to pull away, but Jesse held him there, and then he didn't know enough to even remember how to breathe.

It was several minutes before Brennan had the strength to crawl back up Jesse's body to face him again. They kissed softly, tongues mixing together, before Brennan pulled back to meet his lover's eyes. "Okay?"

"Okay?" Jesse grinned, and Brennan's heard did that odd flop thing again. He should have Adam check that out. "I passed okay a while back. Drove by fantastic, didn't even stop at fabulous and right now, I think I'm somewhere around ecstatic."

With a laugh, Brennan leaned in for another kiss. "I think I know what you mean," he said, burying his head in Jesse's neck and nuzzling the skin there. Jesse's scent overwhelmed him. He wondered how Shalimar, with her

heightened senses, could handle this kind of closeness when just the smell of Jesse seemed to make him slightly crazed.

Jesse's hand had been stroking Brennan's hair, slowing steadily until it stopped. His deep, even breathing told Brennan he'd falling asleep.

Brennan raised his head to stare down at the face of the amazing man whose body was tangled with his. His heart jumped again, and he realized suddenly it might not be something Adam could fix.

It was an unsettling realization, but not quite as bad as he'd thought it would be. It was hard to be scared with Jesse wrapped around him.

He buried his head into Jesse's neck again, put his worries out of his mind, and drifted off to sleep.
